Hello Everyone

Thank you for your patience.  I know I haven't been posting like I should.   The hard drive on my computer crashed.  Well, for Christmas my wonderful husband got me a laptop so I am back in business.  I hope to get some cards done and some pictures taken and up on my blog soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Suzanne Dean's Class

Oh my goodness.  What a great day.  It was long, but awesome.  The first class ran from 9-12:30 and then we broke for lunch.  We then picked back up at 1:30 and ran until about 3:30.  The advanced class ran from 3:30 to 7:30.  I learned so much.  If you could see where I started and where I ended up you would all be amazed.  She makes it so easy.  What she says makes sense!

Copic certifies people telling them to work in small circles.  That is a big No, No!  According to Suzanne you must flick the color onto the paper with al ight hand.  This allows the colors to blend better.  It is so true.  I am amazed at what I accomplished in one day.

If you get a chance, even if it is an online class, take one of her classes.  It is well worth the time and money!  Here is a picture of Suzanne and I:

This Weekend I Get to Meet Suzanne Dean

I am so excited.  She is coming to The Keepsake Element in Bloomington to teach 2 classes.  I am signed up for both.  It will be a long day, but a fruitful one.  The first class begins at 9:00 a.m. and we don't get out of there until 7:30 p.m.

I will certainly be posting after the class to let you all know how it went and what I think.  I have heard all wonderful things about Suzanne's classes so I am sure it will be wonderful.

STAY TUNED!

Hero Arts

Today was a totally awesome experience.  I got to take two classes from Shari Carroll of Hero Arts at my favorite scrapbooking store - The Keepsake Element.  We made a ton of cards.  As  indicated earlier, I am working on an antiquated computer since my hard drive blew.  My son has an old processor he is kind enough to let me use, but it doesn't allow me to upload photos.  So, I will take pictures of the cards we made and upload them from my work computer.  We did some different techniques that I have not done before so it was a worthwhile day!

Shari was very personable and funny.  If you get a chance to look her up she has several videos out on her various techniques.  She is well known for her collage art.  She developed "color layering" and "color blending" techniques for Hero Arts.

Computer Issues

Hello everyone.  I just wanted to let you all know that my computer hard drive crashed.  My son was kind enough to give me a processor that he has but it is slower than a snail.  But, hey, it works.  So, just wanted to let everyone know that I have some new cards to post, but this tower is so old that I can't plug my card from my camera into it to download my pics so I'm going to have to do it at work.  I will get something up soon.

I am trying to decide between a new desk computer or a laptop so I will take any and all suggestions and experiences if you want to share.  Thanks.

House Mouse and Male Birthday Card

I made these card for my workshop last week.  The birthday card was a special request.

Wow, doesn't this look relaxing?  I love this stamp.  I had to use it when I saw the designer paper with lemons.
Perfect paper for this card.

I don't know about the rest of you but I find it hard to make
cool male cards.  I guess I really am a girly girl cause I like pink
purple and bling!  Oh well, considering I think this one turned
out okay.  Diana - this one was for you.  I have several kits
left if you want to pick one up.

Pop Up Card

I have never made a pop up card.  However, I had a request from one of my class participants so this is my version of a pop up card.

Easel Card

Here is an easel card we will be making in my Monday night class.

I'm Back from Dallas

It was a great conference and I learned a lot but I am so very glad to be home. I left on 7/26 and returned home the evening of 7/31.  Long week.  I stayed at the Marriott Legend in Plano, Texas where the conference was held.  Beautiful hotel!  Plano is a quaint little town.  The hotel was right next to the square where there were all kinds of shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, we did not have a lot of time to shop as the conference was an all day event and there were receptions in the evening; however, we had one night free and we took advantage of it.  It was blazing hot however!  We ate at a great steakhouse on the 28th which just happened to be my birthday so that was a very nice treat!  The conference actually ended on Saturday afternoon and we planned on staying over and flying home on Sunday.  Therefore, we did have Saturday afternoon and evening free.  We went to the mall.  All I can say is 3 stories, unbelievable and no, we didn't make it through the whole thing.  It even had a hockey rink.  It was amazing!  We were exhausted by the time we got back to the room so we ordered room service and watched a movie.  It was great!

Again, glad I am back.  I have a workshop to prepare for so I will be posting some cards later in the week.

On My Way to Dallas

I will be in Dallas for the rest of the week. It is where the National Association of Legal Assistants is hosting their conference this year.  This is my first time attending.  I am going with my friend Ann who has been several times.  I am flying out at 6:45 a.m. Tues. 7/26 which just happens to be my 31st wedding anniversary and believe it or not Ann's as well.  I have to get up at 4 a.m.  That is just obscene!  I will be there through Sunday 7/31. I will also celebrate my birthday in Dallas.  We have a free night the 28th which is my birthday so Ann and I will paint the town.

Hopefully upon my return I will have time to make some more cards to post.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Monday, July 11th Workshop

To those followers who are coming to my class
on Monday, 7/11 these are the four cards we
will be doing.

This is a sprig of daisies from Stampin Up.  Someone
was advertising SU stamp sets at work so I bought this one.  Love it!

This is another Stampin Up set.  It is a window and then you stamp what you want in the window.  I thought I would stick with the daisy theme.

Then of course, we have the adorable Mouse House stamps.  I love these stamps.    This is Bring on the Rain.

This one is entitled Spring Blossoms.

It's a Girl Thing

The idea of this card came from some stickers I bought.  I didn't know what I was going to do with them at the time I bought them, but they were cute.  You all know how that goes!  Any way, I was in my favorite scrapbooking store, The Keepsake Element and low and behold there was some designer paper with purses on it.  Well, of course, I had to get it. I looked at the paper and decided that the base of the card was going to be red.  This is what I came up with.

 This is the inside.

Another Little Cutie

This is another adorable stamp.

I used SU cardstock in Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, and Baja Breeze.  The DP is from The Keepsake Element.  I colored the little cutie in teals and pink and added lace and roses.

Here is the inside of the card.  I used lace again on top with one rose in dark teal.  On the bottom I used my dies and added a ribbon and pearls.

Oh the Places You'll Go

Here is another little cutie.  I adore this stamp.

I used SU Old Olive cardstock as the based.  The
DP is from The Keepsake Element.  I added
ribbon, a pin, lace and flowers

I finished off the inside with the same DP, added a
ribbon on one side and lady bugs on the other.

I think she turned out pretty cute.

Spacey Tilda

A lot of people have said they do not like the summer collection.  I have to say its not my favorite, but
you can always make something cute.  Here is Tilda.

\
This is the inside of the card.  I used Bo Bunny paper and some Bo Bunny stickers.

Heartfelt Creations by Cricket

Both of these cards were done in one of my workshops.

I decided to do this card all in ivory except for the sentiment.  Unfortunately, this picture does not do the card justice.  This was a time consuming card to make ; however, I think the end result was worth the effort.

Recipe:

Stampin Up Very Vanilla Cardstock
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder – Hearts and Swirls
Heartfelt Decorative Butterfly Border Die
Posy Die
Martha Stewart Punch – Leaves
Stampin Up Butterfly Die
Oval Nestabilities Die for Saying
Stampendous Sympathy Saying
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad in Aged Mahogany
Pearls

I decided to do a simple card after making the sympathy card.  However, I wanted to show my class how versatile the posy die set is.  I was just going to use cardstock for the flower, but I saw this designer paper and fell in love with it so I decided to incorporate it.

Stampin Up Cardstock in Marina Mist and Kraft
Designer Paper from The Keepsake Element
Posy Die – Heartfelt Creations
Leaf Die – Heartfelt Creations
Butterflies – Martha Stewart Punch
Butterfly Border – Martha Stewart Punch
Ribbon – Michaels
Pearls and Gems
